I am currently composing a full list of local resources for my Austin clientele and one of the resource groups I want available to anyone who needs it is help with parenting! I don't care what anyone says, it doesn't all come naturally and sometimes a little guidance and support is all a family needs to be able to tackle any issue with confidence!
In my research I came across a wonderful list of parenting books some of which I have read, some are already on my 'to read list' and others I will be adding too! I thought I would include the list here on the blog for anyone who might be looking for some positive literature on parenting. Two of the authors I have a particular liking of: Janet Lansbury as well as Daniel J. Siegel. I really like their approaches to it all. Both of which do a great job of addressing these key topics:
* understanding physiology and development
* developing empathy
* setting healthy limits
* self-regulation and grounding (e.g. helping with temper tantrums)
* emotional well-being
* responding instead of reacting
* your identity as a parent
So, here it is! Enjoy!
